Spondon Gain Revenge Against D-Team
The D-Team were at home to Spondon on Tuesday (8/4/25)
Tony was first finish with a draw with Doug on board four..
For a while I thought I had rescued my position on board three. My king was on the 8th rank and my opponent had two rooks on the 7th but his king was cut off and the two rooks on their own were not enough on their own to force mate. Unfortunately he also had a pawn that was able to tip the balance in his favour!
When Garry’s opponent offered him a draw, Alan exclaimed that Garry ‘was the luckiest man alive’!
However Alan had problems of his own and resigned a short time later!
A 3-1 defeat on the night, although we had won our away match at Spondon earlier in the season - so in may ways honours even!
