Derby A Team Hold League Leaders
The A team returned to Belper on Wednesday (11/12/24) to take on Belper A, the current division leaders.
John and John battled out a GM'ish tussle and drew.
Steve took on Simon's provocative Sokolsky and came out a pawn up but time trouble played its part and Simon prevailed.
Kevin reeled out 14 lines of prep in a French and put Alex under tremendous pressure. Alex kept finding saving moves and the game petered out into a draw.
I managed to win a pawn with a tactic and hung on to secure a win.
A deserved match point which gives us a good chance of ultimately claiming fourth place behind the 3 strongest teams.
