Victory for “New Look” D-Team

The D team had a different look in their match against Clay Cross D on Tuesday (10/12/24). Several of our regulars were unavailable for this one, so Chris Sharp, Sam and Tony joined me against our worthy opponents..

There were fairly quick wins for Chris and Sam on the odd boards..

Tony fought on with a heavy material deficit, but finally succumbed on board 4.

I was on board two with the white pieces in an uneven material situation. With queens still on, I had two rooks and two extra pawns versus my opponent’s one rook and two minor pieces. I allowed a swap off of the queens, which in retrospect was a bad idea. My opponent Craig then had the better game, but was in severe time trouble and his flag dropped.

(Colin is a little modest! I was watching this game at the end. He asked a lot of tough questions and his opponent burned precious time trying to answer correctly - Kevin).

Overall a good result for the D-team!
