Below Strength C Team Victorious at Spondon
On Tuesday (25/01/25) the C team visited Spondon. Despite missing our usual top two boards, we were feeling confident.
Doug, a regular opponent of mine at Midland congresses in the nineties, missed an opportunity to win an early pawn, and later let his queen become trapped.
Chris dominated his game, and also won quickly.
Shourya maintained a superior position throughout his game; he was winning when Philip blundered a piece which sealed the outcome.
Sam had a fairly closed game. Bert had an attack that fizzled, and Sam agreed a draw.
A good win for the team and Derby C are now second in the division.
