Promoted C-Team Enjoy Themselves!
Derby C had our final away match against Rolls Royce E on Thursday (17/4/25). Thanks to Burton & Lichfield C beating Rolls Royce E earlier in the week, Derby C had already gained promotion, so I told the team to be adventurous!
Carl had a good game on the top board and was able to convert to a win.
Matt had a material advantage but his king was badly exposed. His opponent missed opportunities to exploit this, and Matt eventually turned his lead in material into a win.
Rob and I castled on opposite sides and launched sluggish pawn advances. Rob used much more time, so when my advance landed, he was not able to to defend.
Sam had better acticity for his pieces. He was given a short cut to the win when his opponent allowed a king-queen fork!
A clean sweep 4-0 and affirmation of the teams promotion!
