D Team: “Running out of Pieces”

This year, we have two teams in Division 3 (Derby C and Derby D) and have decided to try, as far as we can, to field two teams of equal strength.

This was Derby D’s first match of the season and we were at home to Rolls Royce E.

The first result was a convincing win to Garry on board 2, but things all went a bit wrong after that with a loss for Tony on 4 and then a loss for Chris on 1. On 3, I had what I thought was a decent attack going, but then, as David Smith correctly put it I ‘ran out of pieces’.

A 3 - 1 loss was not really the start that we wanted for the new season. Our next match is away against Amber Valley on Tuesday 29th October.

Derby D Rolls Royce A
1 Cole, Chris 1644 0 - 1 Giusto, Pietro 1504
2 Sands, Garry 1542 1 - 0 Bennett, Curtis u/g
3 Ross, Colin 1491 0 - 1 Reynaud, Pierre 1517
4 O'Donovan, Tony 1347 0 - 1 Willgoose, Joe 1457

Colin Ross 16/10/25
