New BBC Chess Programme

There was a time when the BBC had some chess content in its programming. This included coverage of World Championship games and most famously “The Master Game” series.

Therefore it is very exciting that after a break of thirty years, a new chess programme debuts on BBC2 this coming Monday (10/03/25 at 8pm): “Chess Masters: The Endgame”.

The description given on the BBC website is:

“Make the first move. Sue Perkins challenges rising chess stars to take on the legendary game of psychology, strategy and intensity. It'll take nerves of steel to win the title.”

I understand that the series has players in the 1600-2000 range taking on a series of challenges. David Howell provides specialist chess knowledge.

It will be interesting to see how the series is received and whether it drives more interest in chess in the UK.
