An Improvement - but a Loss is a Loss!

On Thursday (6/3) The A team travelled to Chesterfield hoping to improve on the first match of the season (0-4).

John played an aggressive Austrian attack but despite offering pawns for tactical opportunities ultimately entered a lost endgame.

I got a slight plus but didn't follow it up accurately and was happy to offer a draw which Martin accepted.

Kevin created a lot of pressure in the opening but in attempting to avoid repeating moves, blundered the exchange. With no compensation he soon resigned in a lost position.

David got what looked like an overwhelming position but he couldn't find a breakthrough move and the game petered out to a draw.

A marginal improvement on the first match.

A bump back to earth after a good run of results!
