“Well Mixed Up” - Chess960 Tournament Report

On Tuesday (05/11/24) we held our regular “first Tuesday of the month” social chess event. This month it was a Chess960 (also known as Fischer random chess) tournament, where the starting position is randomised (with some rules). This means that opening theory is irrelevant and it all feels unusual and challenging.

George Burdell proved to be the most adaptive to the format, winning with a 100% 4/4! In my game against George, he blew me off the board with a sharp queenside attack, while I was still getting to grips with co-ordinating my pieces.
