Play Chess in Real Life!
You play online chess, or maybe you have watched “Chess Masters” on the BBC and wonder what playing against live opponents would be like? Here is your chance!
On Tuesday 1st April, Derby Chess Club will hold its regular “first Tuesday of the month” social event. For such an auspicious date we will be running a theme tournament with starting positions from openings named after wild animals!
A famous grandmaster, Sam Shankland, once said all openings named after animals are nonsense. Well there is no better day to test that.
Our social events are well attended and give opportunities for new and experienced players to test themselves against all levels of opponents in a fun environment. It also the perfect opportunity for prospective members to try us out.
The competition starts on the 1/4/25 at 7:30pm at the Methodist Church Centre in Mickleover (Station Road, Mickleover, Derby, DE3 9GH).
